West Wight Triathlon

Author: Isle of Wight Cycling Festival, Dated: 22/08/2020

Changes have been made to the popular West Wight Triathlon, in the hope of encouraging new competitors to the sport.

Taking place on Sunday 28 September, the distances for each discipline have been shortened, making it a sprint distance event.  It now comprises of a 400m swim in the pool, 25km cycle along Military Road to Brighstone and back and a 5km run along part of the old railway line to Yarmouth.  Individual entrants must be 15 or over, but team swimmers can take part from as young as twelve years old.

It is the twelfth year the event has been based from the West Wight Sports Centre and team entries are also welcomed. Stunning glass trophies created by Diamond Isle Glass are specially made for the event, while all finishers receive a medal and technical t-shirt.

Also new for this year are activities for spectators on Jubilee Field next to the Centre, including archery, slacklining and zorbing with IW Adventure Activities.

More information and online entry forms can be found on the website www.westwight.co.uk/triathlon.
