Isle of Wight Juinor Cycle Club
Author:
Isle of Wight Cycling Festival,
Dated:

The Isle of Wight Junior Cycle Club is to be relaunched, it has been announced.
The club is to be initially aimed at young people aged 11-15 years old with each session containing a mixture of fun and and skill elements. The club will cover various types of cycling, such as mountain biking, cyclocross and road racing and children attending can also work towards their Bikeability certification, which will give them the skills to learn how to ride on the road.
The new club will meet over the next three months on six Saturday mornings at schools around the Island. The Sports Development Unit and the Road Safety Team from the Isle of Wight Council are lending their expertise to support the initiative and in the future it is hoped to be as successful as the previous club, which ran for many years, with up to 50 children attending sessions.
Each session will cost £2.00. Anyone without a bike can still attend and will be lent one with a helmet. Anyone interested in attending can call Alec Broome on (01983) 823818 or email sports.unit@iow.gov.uk.
The Dates of the first junior clubs are:
31st May – Fairway Sports Centre, Sandown
21st June – Fairway Sports Centre, Sandown
28th June – Ryde Sports Centre
12th July – Medina Leisure Centre, Newport
26th July – Medina Leisure Centre, Newport
2nd August – Ryde Sports Centre
