CycleWight the Island’s cycle pressure group are to host an event in St. James Square on Saturday 26th June to celebrate Bike Week. On the stand will be all matters cycling; maps, advice, information about local and national routes.

In attendance will be Dr Bike from 10am - 12pm and 2pm – 4pm. People can bring their bike along to find out what is wrong with it. The 'Doctor’ will come from Wight Mountain cycle shop in Newport who will give an expert diagnosis of what needs to be done to get that bike back on the road.

Representatives from the Cycling Festival will be there to tell people about the wide range of events in this years cycling bonanza. It is anticipated that this will be the first time that people will be able to view the programme for the Cycling Festival in September.

Tim Thorne, from CycleWight said, "You only have to look at the roads and cycle tracks on the Island to there is a huge number of people of cycling. Many more would love to join in and so the display on Saturday in conjunction with the Cycling Festival and Wight Mountain is part of this drive. Many people are concerned about the safety aspect of cycling but it is now generally recognised that the more people who cycle the safer it becomes"

With only one week until the launch of The Wight Wheels Challenge, people can get advice on how to join this project, as well as learning about some of the fantastic prizes on offer.

The Isle of Wight was voted one of the ten best places in the World to cycle. This is an opportunity to find out on what people may be missing.
