The Isle of Wight Cycling Festival is back for 2007 with a variety of events suitable for all ages and abilities. To see a list of all the rides in the programme view 'What's On'

The Festival will launch at Seaclose Park, Newport with a fantastic Cycle Show where there will be all kinds of cycling experiences to take part in. Highlights of the day will include a mountain bike stunt display and the crazy 'Sink or Swim' Cycle the Medina event that see cycle eccentrics create pedal powered crafts that will get them from one side of the river to the other - hopefully without getting wet! This year we will be welcoming TV celebrity Charlie Dimmock to start the Sink or Swim race.

A highlight for 2007 will be the Singles Cycle on Saturday 22nd September. Booking is essential, please compleate and return the singles cycle registration form.

Back for 2007 is Cycle the Wight, a 65 mile road ride around our beautiful Island in aid of our nominated charity, the British Heart Foundation which takes place on Sunday 16th September. Visit the Cycle The Wight section for more information.

New for 2007 is the inclusion of the Wight Challenge – A multi discipline event that features running, cycling and kayaking. This popular event has been running for a number of years and we are pleased to be incorporating this as part of the Isle of Wight Cycling Festival on Saturday 15th September.

Also taking place is the 2007 West Wight Triathlon on Sunday September 16th. This is one of the most picturesque triathlon events in the South of England. It consists of a 600 metre pool swim, 35km cycle, 7.5 km run. The cycle route takes in the spectacular coastal Military Road and the run is a flat out and back route along the River Yar.

This is great training for the Island’s toughest ride, The Hills Killer, which returns to test even the strongest of competitors. To find out more and to see last year’s finish times then visit the Hills Killer section.

If you prefer your cycling to be a little less strenuous then take advantage of our daily rides which are organised by local enthusiasts and cycle groups. Full details of these rides can be found on the Programme section as and when we receive them.
